Kwara Governor Begins Rice Distribution to Indigent Families Across 16 LGAs

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, today flagged off the distribution of 25,000 bags of 10kg rice to vulnerable families across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state. The initiative, supported by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, aims to alleviate food insecurity during Ramadan and Lent.

Represented by his Deputy, Kayode Alabi, Governor AbdulRazaq praised the Dangote Foundation’s generosity, highlighting the crucial role of public-private partnerships in tackling hardship. “This timely donation comes at a crucial moment for our families,” said Governor AbdulRazaq. “We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of the Dangote Foundation.”

Ahmed Ladan Gobir, Group General Manager (Human Resources) at Dangote Cement Plc, stated that the Foundation is providing one million bags of 10kg rice to 36 states and the FCT this year. He specifically said Kwara will receive 25,000 bags, earmarked for families residing in various communities across the 16 LGAs, including individuals with disabilities. The rice will be distributed through designated community centers, ensuring fair access to the most vulnerable.

The governor emphasized the importance of corporate social responsibility and pledged continued collaboration with other foundations and private sector organizations.
