Atiku Offers Obi VP Slot in Proposed 2027 One-Term Coalition Deal
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reportedly offered Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, the role of running mate in a proposed one-term presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to insider sources, the proposal was discussed earlier this year during a private meeting between the two in the United Kingdom. Atiku is said to have pledged to serve only a single four-year term before handing over to Obi, who is currently consulting with his core supporters.
Both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) are currently grappling with internal crises, leading the duo to explore alternative platforms, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) emerging as a likely option.
