Lagos car wash attendant arrested for stealing customer’s car

Police in Lagos have arrested a car wash attendant in the Alausa area after he allegedly absconded with a customer’s vehicle.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday. He said detectives from the Alausa Division tracked the suspect to Sagamu, Ogun State, where the stolen car was recovered.
“A car wash attendant in Alausa ran away with a customer’s vehicle. Detectives of the Alausa Division arrested him with the vehicle in Sagamu. Be security conscious always,” Hundeyin warned.
In a separate development, operatives from the Ilasan Division apprehended five suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate along with a buyer of a stolen vehicle.
According to Hundeyin, a taxi driver had reported on August 1 that three passengers who booked his services in the Lekki area turned on him during the trip. One of the suspects allegedly pointed a locally made pistol at him before they forced him out and fled with his Toyota Corolla.
Following intelligence-led investigations, police arrested five suspects identified as: Favour Sunday, 25, Ikot Moses, 28, Dickson Ighobue Harrison, 35, Joshua Adedamola, 27 and Daniel Jonathan, 26.
Further probe revealed that the stolen car was sold for ₦500,000 to one Wasiu Arinola, 40, who allegedly dismantled it and resold the parts in Ibadan before he was arrested.
Hundeyin added that efforts are ongoing to recover the pistol used in the robbery, trace other stolen vehicles, and ensure all suspects face prosecution.
