Libya Driver Arrested For Smuggling Seven Nigerian Women, Others

A Libyan driver has been arrested for attempting to smuggle seven undocumented Nigerian migrants from Sabha to Benghazi.

The Brega police arrested the vehicle and detained the driver and the migrants.

The Migrant Rescue Watch revealed that the Nigerian nationals, which comprises of seven women and a man, were found in possession of forged Libyan documents.

“Police in Brega during road control seized a vehicle and arrested a Libyan driver for an attempted human smuggling of undocumented migrants of Nigerian nationality (7 women & 1 man) who were in possession of forged Libyan documents,”

“During police interrogation, the driver admitted to transporting the migrants for financial gain (500 LYD/ca. 104 USD per person) from Sabha to Benghazi.

“All remain in police custody pending referral to public prosecution.” MRW stated.
