Man Kills Elder Brother Over Foodstuffs Dispute in Anambra

 

Tragedy struck the Abagana Community in the Njikoka local government area of Anambra State as a 45-year-old man, Emmanuel Okafor, fell victim to a domestic dispute that resulted in his untimely death.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday at approximately 7 pm, at the Okafor family home in Adegbe Village.

The dispute reportedly began over the sharing of foodstuffs with his younger brother, Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, who turned 37 this year.

An argument between the two brothers escalated, with the younger brother’s anger boiling over.

In a fit of rage, Anthony allegedly pierced his brother’s chest with a stick, causing fatal injuries.

Confirming the incident, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, disclosed that Anthony had been arrested by a joint security team of the Abagana Police Division and Anambra Vigilante Group.

During interrogation, the suspect, Anthony, confessed to a heated argument with his brother over food sharing.

The Police Public Relations Officer further revealed that the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the dire consequences of unresolved conflicts and unchecked emotions. It highlights the importance of learning healthy conflict resolution skills and managing one’s emotions constructively to avoid irreparable harm.

The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka, where it will be thoroughly investigated and eventually charged to court upon conclusion.
