Military airstrike guns down 11 terrorists in Northern Nigeria

No fewer than 11 terrorists causing havoc in Sokoto State and other parts of the North-West have been neutralized by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma Strike.

According to a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the coordinated operation took place near Kurawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Army said the operation disrupted a planned attack on Tara Village, described as a strategic route used by terrorist and bandit groups.

“Acting on precise credible intelligence, the strike team executed a well-coordinated ambush, engaging the bandits in an intense firefight,” the Army stated.

The operation resulted in the killing of 11 terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The troops recovered eight AK-47 rifles, five extra magazines and 26 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition from the scene.
