Motorist Burnt To Death In Lekki-Epe Expressway Accident

A Toyota Highlander SUV caught fire due to a collision with an empty Sino tipper truck on the Lekki-Epe Expressway on Thursday, tragically resulting in the driver’s death.

The General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed the mid-day crash occurred after Okegun/Seaport, inward Epe, involving a Toyota Highlander Jeep (GGE 432 JC) and an empty Sino tipper truck.

It was gathered that the Highlander which was travelling inward Ajah, lost control, across the expressway, and collided with the tipper truck heading toward Epe.

Reports revealed the Highlander, travelling inward Ajah, lost control, swing across the expressway, and collided with the tipper truck heading toward Epe.

The collision resulted to the Highlander catching fire and trapping the driver inside.

LASTMA officers and the Lagos State Fire Services (Epe Division) extinguished the blaze and recovered the driver’s remains and his body was handed over to family members at the scene.

Bakare-Oki stated “Security operatives from the Epe Police Division provided essential support throughout the rescue and recovery operations, ensuring the safety and coordination of efforts at the scene,”

However, the general manager of LASTMA extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for divine strength to endure their loss.

He also urged motorists to priorities road safety and maintain their vehicles to prevent avoidable tragedies.
