Mr Macaroni Plays Policeman in Award-Winning Film Freedom Way

Popular actor and comedian Debo Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, steps into the role of a police officer in the acclaimed film Freedom Way.

Written and produced by Blessing Uzzi under Bluhouse Studios, Freedom Way marks the directorial debut of Olalekan Afolabi. The film explores the harsh impact of unstable policies on young Nigerians striving to build their future, while addressing critical themes such as police brutality and systemic failure.

Speaking about the project, Mr Macaroni described Freedom Way as deeply relevant to Nigerian society. “What stood out most was the way our lives are interconnected — how each action, or inaction, affects someone else. I want people to understand that actions must have consequences,” he said.

The star-studded cast includes Femi Jacobs, Bimbo Akintola, Ogranya Jable Osai, Meg Otanwa, Mike Afolarin, Jesse Suntele, Taye Arimoro, Akin Lewis, Teniola Aladese, and Tiwalola Adebola-Walter.

Freedom Way made waves at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), winning Best Film and Best Writing for Uzzi. It also earned nominations for Best Sound Design, Best Music, and Best Supporting Actor (Femi Jacobs).

Bluhouse Studios, founded by Uzzi in 2021, is quickly emerging as a powerhouse in African cinema. The studio has created music videos for top artistes like Davido, Cobhams, Broda Shaggi, Zlatan, Chike, and Waje, and has worked with major brands such as 1xBet, Bet9ja, Infinix, Tecno, and Bigi.

“It’s surreal and incredibly fulfilling to finally see Freedom Way hit Nigerian cinemas,” Uzzi shared. “I’m eager to see how it resonates with local audiences — that’s what matters most.”
