Nasarawa Evangelist Detained After Posting Video of Alleged Bandit Attack on Church Crusade
An evangelist identified as Daniel has been detained by the police in Nasarawa State after posting a video reporting an alleged bandit attack on a church crusade in Agboda village.
The incident was revealed on Wednesday by an X user, Evangelist Isaac Agada (@Ruralevangelist), who stated that Daniel had been in police custody for more than 12 hours, quoting information from Daniel’s wife, Elizabeth Ukpo Daniel.
In the video, worshippers were seen running in fear amid reports of an attack by suspected herdsmen on a church programme.
Efforts to reach the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, were unsuccessful as his line was not reachable.

The development comes as insecurity continues to rise across Nigeria, with recent attacks on churches and schools leading to deaths, kidnappings and widespread fear. In Kwara State, three worshippers were recently killed during an attack on a church service. In Niger State, over 300 pupils and staff were abducted from St. Mary’s Private Catholic School in Papiri, although 50 later escaped. A parent of three abducted pupils reportedly died of a heart attack due to trauma.
The police are yet to issue an official statement on Daniel’s detention.
