Nathaniel Bassey reveals wife’s five miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy during Hallelujah Challenge

Renowned gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has shared a deeply emotional testimony, revealing that his wife, Sarah, suffered five miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy, during the period he was leading the Hallelujah Challenge.
The October 2025 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, which marks its eighth anniversary, runs from October 7 to 31, featuring nightly sessions of worship, prayer, and fasting that begin at 11:59 p.m. and attract thousands of participants worldwide.
Speaking during one of the recent sessions, Bassey recounted how he continued ministering online despite going through personal pain and loss.
“My wife will have to forgive me for sharing this,” he said. “There were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and no one knew. I would still come online to praise and dance.”
He recalled one particularly difficult moment when his wife was hospitalised with an ectopic pregnancy.
“A few years ago, she was in the hospital, and I would leave to lead praise and worship online, then return to her bedside. The nurses attending to her would tell me, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four, but five pregnancies,” he revealed.
Bassey, who married Sarah in 2013, used the experience to encourage believers to hold on to their faith despite adversity.
“When people ask, ‘Where is God?’ I understand. But I know that God is faithful. One of the words He gave us was, ‘Don’t give up on God,’” he said.
