Nearly 200 Killed in Kebbi Bandit Attack – Malami Urges Urgent Action

Nearly 200 people have been killed by bandits in Tarduga Ward, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The deadly assault, carried out by over 50 armed assailants, took place late Monday night as residents had settled into their homes.
Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, confirmed the incident in a statement released Wednesday through his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka. Malami described the massacre as “grievous and barbaric,” calling for immediate and comprehensive intervention.
“The tragic loss of nearly 200 innocent lives is a painful scar on our collective conscience,” Malami stated. “It is a stark reminder of the urgent need for robust security and sustainable development in our communities.”
He extended his condolences to the victims’ families, praying for peace for the deceased and strength for the bereaved.
“May Almighty Allah grant them Jannatul Firdaus and comfort those left behind,” he added.
Malami emphasized that the incident was not just a local tragedy but a national disaster requiring decisive response.
He highlighted the long-standing neglect of Zuru and neighboring local governments—Dankowasagu, Fakai, and Sakaba—urging both state and federal governments to act swiftly.
“It is unacceptable that in 2025, these areas still suffer from poor roads, inadequate healthcare, substandard schools, and weak security infrastructure,” he said.

Calling the attack an act of terror, Malami demanded urgent government action to fulfill its constitutional duty. “The security and welfare of citizens is the primary responsibility of any government. That duty must not be ignored.”
