Ned Nwoko Expresses Commitment For Youth Sports Development

Senator Ned Nwoko, the acting Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports has expressed his unwavering commitment to youth sports development and vowing to partner with the organisers of the Senate President’s Cup to make the competition a talent yielding event.
Senator Nwoko, who represented the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, spoke during the closing ceremony of the 10th Senate President’s Cup, with the theme “Renewed Hope Edition,” which was held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, expressing excitement at the display of talent and skills by the young athletes during the tournament.
He said: “I was elated with the passion and skills showcased by the young talents. I can tell that most of the players will get to the pinnacle of their careers, playing for various national teams and foreign clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and other big teams.”
Nwoko also noted the importance of nurturing young talent.
“I have been a fan of catching them young so that they can be nurtured and groomed for the big stage. My passion for sports led to my big project, the Sports University, and I hope to see the next edition hosted in my Sports University.”
At the final match of the tournament, Qatar Academy of Bornu State surrendered to Greatness Sporting Club of Ebonyi State after a penalty shootout.
Kebbi Selected of Kebbi State, defeated Tanko Baba Academy of Nasarawa State 5-4 on penalties in the third-place match.
The acting Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, at the end then donated N10 million to the four semifinalists and encouraged all the teams to pursue their dreams without relenting.
However, the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Senator Ita Enang, also expressed his satisfaction with the successful organisation of the competition, and explained that plans were already in progress for next year’s edition.
