
The Niger State government has donated 25 additional vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, Niger State command to enhance patrol operations, particularly in major towns across the state.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made this disclosure on Tuesday,during the passing out ceremony of 50 participants of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 23 Minna. He stated that his administration is committed to supporting the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to address the issue of insecurity in the state.
The governor also announced that the state government is partnering with the police to build barracks in the outskirts of Minna to provide security coverage in all corners of the state capital.
The SPU is a newly established unit by the Inspector General of Police to provide elite protective services in the country. The 50 participants underwent a comprehensive two-week training program, which covered modules such as:VIP protection,escort and convoy movement,combat parades and formation,firearms handling and shooting range,martial arts and self-defense,firstaid and basic fire-fighting skills.

The Commander, SPU Base 23 Minna, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Hassan Sani, commended the participants for their resilience and commitment during the training. He also expressed gratitude to Governor Umaru Bago for his support and partnership with the Nigeria Police Force.
The event featured a symbolic presentation of certificates to participants, a combat parade, and VIP protection simulations by the graduates of SPU 23 Minna.
