FRSC Recovers Stolen Vehicle After Three Years in Anambra

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, has recovered a vehicle suspected to have been stolen three years ago.
The recovery was made at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) Desk Office in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area.
According to the Sector Public Education Officer, Margaret Onabe, the breakthrough came through joint efforts between the FRSC and other security agencies in the state.
She explained that the vehicle was flagged during a verification process initiated by an agent of the Board of Internal Revenue (BIR), who had submitted the vehicle’s information for confirmation.
“During the verification, it was discovered that the vehicle had been missing for over three years. The registered owner was contacted and confirmed she had not seen the vehicle during that period,” Onabe said. “She presented the original documents to prove ownership, and the police from the Anambra State Command were immediately involved to handle further investigations.”
She emphasized that the recovery was made possible through inter-agency cooperation, and steps are underway to ensure the vehicle is returned to its rightful owner.
Reacting to the development, Sector Commander and Corps Commander Joyce Alexander hailed the recovery as a testament to the effectiveness of the NVIS database system.
She praised herteam and partner agencies for their dedication.

“We encourage all vehicle owners to ensure their number plates are properly uploaded to the NVIS portal. This greatly aids in tracking and recovering stolen vehicles swiftly,” she said. “The Command remains fully committed to enhancing road safety and vehicle security in Anambra through advanced technology and collaboration with other security bodies.”
