Niger Governor Mourns Chief Edwin Clark, Who Died At 97

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago mourns the death of an elder statesman and a patriot, former Federal Commissioner of Information and leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark who died at the age of 97.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the farmer Governor describes the deceased as a true nationalist, an astute administrator, and a freedom-fighter whose passion for regional and national growth and development was second to none.

He also recounts how Chief Edwin Clark was persistent in advocating justice and fairness in all spheres of the nation’s economy, particularly for the people of Niger Delta.

The farmer Governor acknowledges that Chief Clark was a bridge-builder, who has track records of mediated peace among warring communities and politicians, particularly in his region.

While commending the selfless contributions of the deceased to nation-building and his positive intervention to national issues, the farmer Governor says no doubt the demise of Chief Clark is a national loss.

He prays that God will comfort his family members, the people of Niger Delta and the entire nation over the great loss, and repose the soul of the departed.
