Niger State Commisioner Urges Journalists to Share Accurate Information in Peace Making

Media practitioners in Niger State have been encouraged to always share accurate information as stakeholders in maintaining peace in the state. The Commissioner for Homeland Security, Muhammad Bello Abdullahi, made the call during a pre-summit media chat and roundtable discussion with journalists in Minna.
Abdullahi described journalists as dependable allies in the security architecture of the state and urged them to play a key role in passing across precise information to the public.
He urged journalists to be professional in performing their duties and avoid divulging news that could cause panic.
The Commissioner explained that the theme of the forthcoming Peace and Security Summit, “Collaborative approaches to security and peace building,” aims to engage critical stakeholders in proffering solutions to security challenges in the state.
Issues and challenges associated with security information management will be addressed during the summit.He reassured journalists that the state government is committed to addressing security threats.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State emphasized the need for cooperation between journalists and the government to ensure peace and development in the state.

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Niger State Chapter, Comrade Abu Nmodu, assured that journalists in the state will continue to work in accordance with the ethics of the profession and advocate for peace.
Dr. Diamond Preye, a Director at the Abdulsalami Abubakar Institute of Peace and Sustainable Development Studies, described the peace summit as apt and emphasized the need for everyone to be advocates of peace.
