Nigeria and Bahrain Forge Stronger Ties, Sign Diplomatic Agreement
Nigeria and Bahrain have officially established diplomatic relations following high-level bilateral discussions aimed at boosting trade, investment and cooperation in key sectors.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, announced the new partnership during his visit to Manama, Bahrain, over the weekend.
A statement by his media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir, confirmed that Tuggar met with Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, where they signed a communiqué formalizing the diplomatic ties between both nations.
The meeting focused on strengthening relations, attracting foreign direct investment from Bahrain, expanding trade opportunities, and fostering collaboration in the oil and gas industry. Special emphasis was placed on onshore projects and the development of the eighth train Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

“The ministers also deliberated on the training of Nigerian diplomats and collaboration within multilateral fora,” the statement added.
This diplomatic milestone is expected to open new avenues for economic growth and international cooperation between the two nations.
