Nigeria Hits Record-Breaking 5,543MW Power Generation in 2025
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported a significant milestone in the nation’s power sector, with electricity generation reaching a new peak of 5,543.20MW on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:00 p.m.
This achievement surpasses the previous record of 5,478.73MW, which was set just a day earlier on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
In an official statement, TCN also revealed that the Maximum Daily Energy recorded for the day stood at 125,159.48MWH, making it the highest ever in Nigeria’s electricity history. This figure exceeded the previous record of 121,674.88MWH recorded on February 7, 2025, by 3,484.60MWH.

The agency confirmed that the new peak generation and maximum daily energy were successfully transmitted to distribution companies nationwide to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
“This achievement underscores the commitment of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, to elevating Nigeria’s power generation and supply,” the statement read.
This milestone reflects ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria’s power infrastructure and supply, giving hope for improved electricity distribution across the country.
