Nigeria vs Cameroon Friendly Rescheduled Again After CAF Rejection

The international friendly between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses has once again been rescheduled, following a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to reject a proposed date change.
The match will now take place on Tuesday, June 3, at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
Originally set for Tuesday, the fixture had briefly been moved forward to Monday, June 2, following the cancellation of the initial leg that was to be held on Saturday, May 31, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
That game was called off due to the late arrival of the Cameroonian team, who only reached Ikenne late Friday night—too late to complete required pre-match procedures and recovery protocols.
In response, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) sought to bring the second leg forward to Monday.
However, CAF declined to sanction the new date, insisting that the original June 3 fixture must stand.
Confirming the change, the Super Falcons posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday:
“Our friendly against Cameroon will now be held on Tuesday, June 3 at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, following a late request from FECAFOOT.”
The Cameroonian squad has since arrived in Ijebu Ode, where they are training ahead of Tuesday’s clash in nearby Abeokuta.
This match marks the Super Falcons’ first outing since a narrow 1–0 loss to France in a friendly last November and serves as a vital tune-up ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Cameroon, meanwhile, did not qualify for the tournament but remain a long-standing rival.
Nigeria holds a dominant record in recent encounters, having not conceded a goal to the Lionesses in their last six meetings. Cameroon last defeated the Super Falcons in 2012.
