Zamfara security group, operation fansan yamma kills 3 notorious terrorist gang leaders

a significant breakthrough, Nigerian troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with Zamfara State’s Community Watch group, have neutralized three notorious bandit leaders in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The bandit leaders, Kachallah Mai Shadda, Kachalla Gurgu, and Kachalla Mai Dada, were ambushed and eliminated near Gangara village while attempting to escape on two motorcycles.

This operation is part of the ongoing efforts to combat banditry across the Northwest region, including Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi States. In the past week, over 60 bandits have been neutralized, and dozens have been forced to flee their enclaves due to intensified military pressure. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) also carried out precision strikes targeting bandits loyal to the infamous Bello Turji, inflicting heavy casualties on the assailants.

Some vigilantes pursuing the criminals were caught in crossfire, resulting in casualties

Ground forces recorded successes in Fakai, located in Shinkafi LGA, where several bandits were eliminated. However, some vigilantes pursuing the criminals were caught in crossfire, resulting in casualties. The injured vigilantes have been evacuated to healthcare facilities for treatment.

Sources report that bandits led by Bello Turji are relocating from Shinkafi LGA’s forest to Surbudu Forest in Isa LGA of Sokoto State, raising concerns about potential regrouping. In a separate incident, Turji’s faction was spotted transporting hundreds of rustled livestock, using the animals as a shield to avoid aerial detection.

This development comes as the military continues to intensify its operations against bandits in the region, with the goal of ending insecurity in Zamfara and the North West Zone. The establishment of a joint military theatre operation, code-named ‘Operation Fansar Yamma Northwest’, is also aimed at tackling the spread of banditry in the region. With the elimination of three notorious bandit leaders, the military has dealt a significant blow to the bandits, and it remains to be seen how they will regroup and respond to this latest development
