EFCC Detains 10 Officers Over Alleged Theft of Operational Items
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of stealing operational items.
The commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, describing it as part of the agency’s efforts to uphold integrity under the leadership of its chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.

“The affected officers are being questioned regarding the theft of operational items they could not account for. Investigators are making good progress, and those found guilty will face internal disciplinary processes,” Oyewale said.

This crackdown follows the dismissal of 27 EFCC officers earlier in the week for fraudulent activities and misconduct in 2024. Their dismissal was approved by Olukoyede based on recommendations from the commission’s staff disciplinary committee.
Olukoyede has reaffirmed the EFCC’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing that no staff member will be exempt from disciplinary actions if found guilty of malpractice.
