Nigerian Man Arrested in Canada for Fatally Stabbing 63-Year-Old Mother-in-Law.A 36-year-old Nigerian man, Lucky Ogbeijielele, has been arrested in Greater Sudbury, Canada, for the fatal stabbing of his 63-year-old mother-in-law in what police have described as a case of intimate partner violence.
The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Authorities were alerted around 12:35 a.m. and responded to a report of a violent altercation at a residence on Lorne Street.
According to a statement from the Greater Sudbury Police, officers arrived to find a 32-year-old woman—believed to be Ogbeijielele’s wife—outside the residence with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to the hospital by paramedics.
Upon entering the home, officers discovered the 63-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children were also found inside the house but were unharmed.
The suspect had reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived. Police issued a public appeal for information, describing Ogbeijielele as a Black man, approximately 5’7” tall, with short black hair and a beard.
He was last seen wearing light-coloured shorts and a dark shirt, and was believed to have sustained a leg injury during the attack.
A search involving K9 units and a search Outwarrant for the residence was launched.
By 11:30 a.m. the same day, officers located the suspect in a wooded area near Alder Street.

He was found with what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries and was taken into custody without further incident.
Investigations are ongoing as officers continue to canvass
