In a decisive counter-kidnapping operation, troops of the Nigerian Army successfully foiled an abduction attempt and rescued six kidnapped individuals in Taraba State, reaffirming the military’s commitment to combating insecurity in the region.

According to military sources, the rescue operation took place in the early hours of Tuesday following credible intelligence reports about the movement of suspected kidnappers with their victims through a remote location in the state. Acting swiftly, troops from the 6 Brigade, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke, engaged the suspected criminals in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon the captives and flee into the surrounding bushland.

The rescued victims, who were found to be in stable condition, were immediately given medical attention and have since been reunited with their families. Security forces have continued to comb the area in search of the fleeing suspects, while patrols have been intensified across vulnerable communities to prevent further incidents.

Military authorities praised the vigilance of local residents for providing timely information, which played a crucial role in the success of the operation. They also reiterated the importance of community cooperation in the fight against banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria’s North-East and Middle Belt regions.

This latest success adds to a series of recent gains made by security forces in the ongoing effort to restore peace and security in Taraba and other troubled areas of the country.
