According to the forecast, northern states including Jigawa, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Yobe, and Katsina will experience thunderstorms with moderate rainfall on Monday morning, extending later to Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba.
NiMet cautioned that flash floods may occur in Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kano States during the period.
In the central region, covering Niger, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, and Nasarawa, cloudy mornings with light to moderate rainfall are expected, with flooding risks in parts of Plateau.
Southern states such as Ondo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom will also record light to moderate rainfall.
On Tuesday, sunny skies with patches of clouds will dominate much of the north, although thunderstorms and rains are likely in Adamawa, Taraba, and surrounding states. Central and southern regions will continue to witness moderate rainfall.
By Wednesday, northern states will begin with clear skies in the morning, giving way to thunderstorms later in the day. Central areas will remain cloudy with moderate rainfall, while southern states including Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River will see morning showers and heavier afternoon rains.
NiMet urged residents in flood-prone communities to stay prepared, avoid driving in heavy downpours, secure loose items, and remain alert to strong winds and low nighttime temperatures.
The agency further advised against taking shelter under tall trees during storms and recommended that households disconnect electrical appliances to reduce risks.
