NLC Applauds Gov Eno as Akwa Ibom Uncovers 2,000 Ghost Workers in Verification Exercise

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Akwa Ibom State chapter, has lauded Governor Umo Eno for the successful physical verification exercise of civil servants, which has exposed over 2,000 ghost workers.

According to Comrade Alpha Marshall, State Secretary of the NLC, speaking on XL106.9FM’s Super Breakfast Show, “The Talk,” the exercise verified more than 51,700 out of 55,120 recorded civil servants.

Marshall described the process as seamless and transparent, noting that the verification report is now set for submission to the Governor.

Despite challenges faced by some civil servants with mismatches in their National Identification Number (NIN), Marshall assured that arrangements are underway for a rescheduled exercise, ensuring no delays in submitting the verification report to Governor Eno.

Marshall also praised Governor Eno as a “promise keeper” and expressed confidence that the revised report would facilitate the implementation of the new minimum wage.

Governor Eno had previously committed to initiating an N80,000 minimum wage for all public workers immediately following the verification exercise, which began in November 2024.
