Human rights lawyer and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has clarified that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has not received any official petition against social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In a statement issued on Monday, Adeyanju addressed speculations circulating on social media regarding the EFCC’s involvement in the recent arrest of the controversial internet personality. He categorically stated that contrary to public assumptions, no petition had been submitted to the anti-graft agency implicating Otse in any wrongdoing.
“I have made direct inquiries and can confirm that no petition has been filed against VeryDarkMan at the EFCC,” Adeyanju said. “People should stop spreading misinformation without factual backing.”
VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken commentary on societal issues, has been in the spotlight recently following reports of his arrest by law enforcement authorities. While details of the arrest remain unclear, several narratives have emerged online, prompting supporters and critics alike to demand transparency.
