Expect nationwide thunderstorms – NiMET

Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has given a weather forecast predicting widespread thunderstorms and rain across several regions of the country from Sunday to Tuesday.

NiMet outlook said, thunderstorms are expected to hit some parts of Borno, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa and Gombe states in the northern region on Sunday morning and may continue into afternoon and evening.

And for the north central region, NiMet predict thunderstorms and rain in areas such as the Federal Captain Territory (FCT), Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states throughout Sunday.

While southern cities may experience cloudy skies in the morning time, with intermittent rain fall expected later inthe day.Further more, NiMet forecasts that on Monday morning there Will thunderstorms in Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa and Jigawa states and are expected across other northern states as the day progresses. 

The north central region including FCT, Kogi, Niger and Kwara state will also see thunderstorms and rain fall in the morning, into the afternoon and evening. Southern region may also experience rain throughout the day.

NiMet also forecasts that there will be thunderstorms in Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna and Zamfara. With cloudy skies expected later. In north central thunderstorms are expected in Niger and Kwara states in the morning.  

NiMet had also advised the residents in flood-prone areas to be careful due to the increasing risk of urban flooding in some major cities from disturbing downpour. 

NiMet also warned that there may be strong winds that may lead or cause thunderstorms. And advised the general public to abide by the advices issued by the relevant agencies. NiMet warned
