Ogun NSCDC arrests mechanic, Abiodun Ajao, for stealing and dismantling a customer’s car in Ogun State for resale.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, arrested a 27-year-old mechanic, Abiodun Ajao, on Friday for stealing and dismantling a customer’s car. Ajao, a mechanic from Lagos, had stolen the vehicle, a Toyota with the number plate Lagos BDG 956-FJ, and transported it to Idona, Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State.
The suspect began disassembling the vehicle for resale before NSCDC operatives arrested him. According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya, Ajao was caught while attempting to sell parts of the car to potential buyers.
During questioning, Ajao explained that the car’s engine was damaged. He claimed he wanted to sell the parts, as the engine was “knocked and unusable.” Upon further investigation, he admitted that the car had been brought to him for repairs. He said he was test-driving the vehicle to check the repairs before returning it to the owner.
Ajao confessed that he had already driven the vehicle through parts of Lagos with passengers. He continued, saying he drove it to Ijebu Imusin, planning to sell its parts along the Epe road before his arrest.
The suspect, while in custody, pleaded with NSCDC officers for forgiveness, acknowledging his crime.
