Ogun Police Declare Portable Wanted Over Violent Attack on Officials
The Ogun State Police Command has declared controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, wanted for allegedly orchestrating a violent attack on government officials.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, Portable and his gang allegedly assaulted officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement exercise in the Ota area of the state.
The police report stated that the officials encountered Portable’s father at a local bar, where he claimed his son was not present. However, shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived at the scene wielding a firearm and other weapons. He reportedly led a group of thugs in attacking the officials, who sustained injuries but managed to escape.
“Nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding,” the police statement revealed.
The police noted that despite multiple invitations, the singer failed to appear at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. Following his non-compliance, a court order was issued for his immediate arrest.
“Following his repeated evasion, the Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted,” the statement read.
The police have urged the public to provide any useful information that could lead to Portable’s arrest, warning that anyone found harboring or aiding him will face legal repercussions.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to assist the police by providing any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest. Anyone found aiding or harbouring the suspect will face legal consequences,” the statement warned.
Authorities have provided official communication channels for citizens to report any relevant information regarding the fugitive singer’s whereabouts.
