Benue Police Deploy Drones to Locate Kidnapped Benue Links Passengers

The Benue State Police Command has announced the deployment of drones in a major effort to locate and rescue 11 passengers and a driver who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Okpokwu Local Government Area.

The victims, who were traveling in a bus belonging to the Benue State Transport Company, popularly known as Benue Links, were intercepted around 6:30 pm at Eke, along the Otukpo-Otukpa-Enugu highway.

According to reports, the assailants halted the vehicle, robbed the passengers of their belongings, and then forced them into the surrounding bush.

Police spokesperson SP Udeme Edet confirmed the incident on Monday and stated that tactical teams, including drone surveillance units, have been deployed to track down the kidnappers’ location and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

Security operations are ongoing, and the police have urged residents in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Meanwhile, the families of the kidnapped individuals remain anxious as authorities intensify efforts to secure their release.
