Osun AG Defends Owa Obokun Appointment, Says No Court Order Was Breached

Osun State Attorney-General, Barrister Oluwole Jimi-Bada, has clarified that the appointment of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun of Ijesa Land did not violate any court order.

Speaking to journalists after receiving the Man of the Year Award from the staff of the Osun State Ministry of Justice over the weekend, Jimi-Bada emphasized the Adeleke-led administration’s commitment to the rule of law.

“This government is not a lawless one; we recognize the Rule of Law,” he said. “All the claims and allegations from the opposition are not correct. On Owa Obokun that was installed, the government did not breach any order of court. The order that they were referring to had been set aside by High Court of Osun State, there is no order that is pending.

“I am the Attorney-General; if there is any order that is subsisting, I will advise the government not to proceed. There is no valid or subsisting court order that is still pending.”

Jimi-Bada also expressed gratitude for the recognition from his colleagues, stating, “Receiving this Man of the Year Award is not just a personal achievement; it is a testament to the collective effort, dedication, and unwavering support of each and every one of you here at the Ministry of Justice.”
