Panic as Gunmen Abduct Army Officer in Delta

Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, has been thrown into tension following the abduction of an Army officer by gunmen in the early hours of Sunday.

The officer, identified as Lt.-Col. Josiah, was reportedly taken from his lodge around 2:30 a.m. after armed men stormed the facility, firing gunshots to scare residents before whisking him away in a waiting vehicle.

The development has triggered widespread fear across Bomadi and neighbouring communities, with many residents expressing concern over possible reprisals from security operatives.

A joint team of soldiers and local vigilantes has since been deployed to comb the bushes and surrounding areas in search of the missing officer.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the officer had attended a wedding ceremony in the nearby Kpakiama community on Saturday before retiring to his lodge in Bomadi.

“The kidnappers stormed the hotel around 2 a.m., searched all the rooms, seized lodgers’ phones, and dragged the officer out. They fired shots before driving off with him. Bloodstains were seen on the ground after they left,” the source said.

The following day, the getaway vehicle was reportedly discovered abandoned along the Tuomo-Ogbobagbene-Tamigbe-Torugbene-Ojobo road in Tuomo community and taken to the Joint Task Force base at Bomadi-Overside.
