WAEC 2024: Kogi state ministry of education takes action against examination malpractice

The Kogi State Ministry of Education on Tuesday, has inaugurated a committee to investigate examination misconduct during the 2024 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination. Chaired by Permanent Secretary Dr. Jibrin Saidu Alhaji, the committee will probe the involvement of schools and individuals in examination malpractice and recommend punishments for those found guilty ¹.
The committee has one week to submit its report and includes representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, and West African Examination Council. State Commissioner for Education Wemi Jones emphasized that the government will fully implement the committee’s recommendations and urged members to work with fairness and justice.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration has expressed its commitment to eradicating examination malpractice, which it considers a threat to the future of Kogi State’s children. The move follows the West African Examination Council’s decision to de-recognize some schools and blacklist supervisors involved in examination malpractice during the WASSCE .
