
The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has arrested suspended Edo State Corps Commander, CP Friday Ibadin, for questioning in connection with the March 27 lynching of travelers in Uromi. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation.
Governor Monday Okpebholo has been actively addressing the situation, reaching out to the victims’ families, Hausa community leaders, and northern governors, including those of Kano and Katsina states, where many of the victims hailed from.

Governor Okpebholo had previously suspended CP Ibadin and vowed to bring all perpetrators to justice. Allegations against Ibadin include prior knowledge of illegal vigilante activity in the area and a failure to act, with suspicions ranging from negligence to enabling the vigilantes’ actions. The governor has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the rule of law, stating that no one is above it.
