Amid growing national turmoil, prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State have thrown their support behind the National Political Coalition Group (NPCG), led by former Senate President Senator David Mark. The group has endorsed the coalition’s initiative to unite the opposition and rally around the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a new political platform.

During a high-level strategy session held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, a group known as the Concerned PDP Stakeholders gathered to deliberate on Nigeria’s worsening socio-economic conditions, escalating insecurity, and the perceived breakdown of democratic principles under the current leadership.

Following the meeting, the group released a communiqué stating that the nation’s current trajectory is unsustainable and demands urgent, unified intervention. They pointed to failures in governance across various sectors and advocated for a fundamental political overhaul rooted in credible, issue-driven opposition.

The stakeholders applauded the efforts of the NPCG, describing the coalition’s emergence as a necessary and strategic move to reshape Nigeria’s political future. They particularly commended the choice of the ADC as a unified opposition platform, calling it a bold and necessary response to the country’s deepening crises.

In a decisive resolution, the Niger PDP leaders agreed to align with the NPCG, expressing confidence that the coalition could deliver meaningful change and restore responsible governance in Nigeria.

“We strongly believe this coalition offers the best chance to revive Nigeria’s democracy and build a nation that serves all citizens,” the statement read.

They urged fellow PDP members across Niger State, as well as the wider Nigerian public, to rally behind this new direction for the sake of the nation’s collective future.

Among the notable attendees were Hon. Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira, Hon. Baba Shehu Agaie, Hon. Mukhtar Ahmed Mohammed, Rt. Hon. Saidu Ndako Kpaki (former SSG), Rt. Hon. Umar Musa Ma’ali (former PDP Chairman), Rt. Hon. Mohammed Tsonwa Gamuno, Hon. Abdullahi Shehu, Rt. Hon. Ndanusa Hassan, and Barr. Musa Kallamu, along with numerous other influential figures within the party.

They reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to fostering a united, peaceful, and prosperous Niger State and Nigeria through collaborative and visionary political engagement.
