Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and formerly one half of the now-defunct P-Square duo, has stated that he is the only certified musician in his family.
Speaking during a recent performance at the AY Live event, Mr P attributed the group’s breakup to fan-driven comparisons between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
According to him, such comparisons—often skewed in favor of Paul—fed into his brother’s ego and contributed to their falling out.
Addressing critics who have labeled him “talentless,” Mr P showcased his versatility by singing, dancing, and playing both the piano and guitar during his set.

He also revealed that unlike others in his family, he holds a formal certificate in music.
“I’ve sung and danced, yet they call me talentless. Today, I’ll prove myself. P-Square broke up because fans kept comparing us, saying one was more talented. It got into his head and he started misbehaving,” he said.
“In the entire Okoye family, I’m the only one with a certificate in music. I studied it. They lied to you, but I know the truth—and the liars too. Let’s leave that for now. I’ve danced, played the piano and guitar—do you think it’s easy?” Mr P added.
