PDP criticizes Tinubu’s New Year speech

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s New Year speech, claiming it reflects his disconnection from the challenges Nigerians face. The PDP argues that the speech reveals the president’s lack of concern about the hardship caused by his policies and poor governance.
In a statement issued by PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, the party dismissed the speech as self-serving, claiming it failed to provide solutions to Nigeria’s major problems. The PDP also noted that President Tinubu’s address lacked any concrete direction on reducing petroleum prices, combating hunger, or improving the nation’s ailing economy.
Tinubu’s speech highlighted plans to lower inflation, stabilize the naira, and boost economic growth. He mentioned steps like enhancing food production and expanding medicine manufacturing. However, Ologunagba stated that these proposals do not address immediate concerns. He criticized the absence of any specific plans to reduce fuel prices or tackle widespread unemployment.
The PDP spokesperson argued that Nigerians are losing faith in Tinubu’s leadership and are hopeful for a change in the next election. He stressed that the speech failed to offer any viable solutions for Nigeria’s critical sectors, including electricity, oil and gas, and infrastructure.
According to the PDP, the administration’s lack of effective governance is evident, and the country’s economic mismanagement has worsened. Ologunagba claimed that Nigerians have already moved on, awaiting the next election to end the APC’s governance.
