Police Arrest 15-Year-Old Serial Robbery Suspect in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy, Abubakar Aliyu, of Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, for allegedly carrying out a series of armed robberies and thefts within the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe metropolis.

The suspect was apprehended following a swift investigation launched after a robbery incident reported on October 15, 2025.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that valuable items were recovered from the suspect, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, an Apple MacBook laptop, an Apple Watch, an Oraimo Power Bank and a pink school bag.

According to Abdullahi, “On 15th October, 2025, at about 1100hrs, a female resident of Federal Low-Cost, Gombe, reported that on the same date, at about 0230hrs, she was attacked by an unknown person armed with a knife who robbed her of her personal belongings.

“These include an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at ₦800,000, an Apple MacBook laptop valued at ₦250,000, an Apple Watch valued at ₦35,000, an Oraimo Power Bank valued at ₦30,000 and a pink school bag valued at ₦25,000.”

He said operatives from the Divisional Police Headquarters immediately swung into action, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of all the stolen items.

“The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime. He further revealed that on October 8, 2025, he conspired with one Hadi (surname unknown), now at large, and broke into another female victim’s residence at Federal Low-Cost, where they stole several items,” Abdullahi added.

The police spokesman listed the stolen items from the second burglary as including “a Samsung Fold 3 valued at ₦800,000, a Black View Tab 80 valued at ₦140,000, two rings worth ₦40,000, a counter valued at ₦20,000, and a car key.”

He confirmed that some of the stolen items, including the Samsung Fold 3 and Black View Tab 80, had been recovered, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, commended the officers for their quick response and professionalism, describing the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the Command’s fight against violent crime.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
