
The Oyo State Police has arrested five members of a kidnapping gang that had been terrorizing the Ipapo and Okaka communities in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
A man named Timothy was abducted from his residence in Mokorede, Ipapo, by a group of six armed men on June 26,2025.
FCNN gathered that the police received a distress call and launched a search and rescue operation, involving detectives, security stakeholders, and local hunters.
According to eyewitnesses,police operatives arrested five suspects at a local rendezvous in Okaka, where they were found sharing ransom money collected from Timothy’s family on June 30,2025.

The arrested suspects are 30 years old Usman Abubakar,21 years old Umar Abubakar,22 years old Abdulkadir Sulaiman,23 years old Abdullahi Naira and 30 years old Isiaku Saboyaro
A cash sum of ₦4,618,700.00, part of the ransom collected from Timothy’s family, was recovered during the operation.
The suspects confessed to the crime and revealed details of the kidnapping, including the roles played by each member of the gang.
The police are still searching for the gang leader, known as “Wetti”, who remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police urge anyone with information about the gang leader or any other criminal occurrence to come forward.
