Police Arrest Suspect in Vigilante Killing,15 Others

A 33-year-old suspected cultist, Bello Salami, has been arrested at Benin airport while trying to flee the state. He is suspected of killing three vigilante members along Wire Road in Benin-City.

In addition to Salami’s arrest, 15 other suspected cultists were arrested in various parts of Edo State during a crackdown on criminal hideouts and house-to-house searches.

The suspects, who confessed to being members of various cult groups, including Maphites, Vikings, Black Axe, and Aye confraternities, will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

Notably, the Esan Area Zonal Leader of the Neo Black Movement (NBM), also known as Black Axe Confraternity, Itua Odion, was also arrested at a hotel in Ekpoma.
