A 33-year-old suspected cultist, Bello Salami, has been arrested at Benin airport while trying to flee the state. He is suspected of killing three vigilante members along Wire Road in Benin-City.
In addition to Salami’s arrest, 15 other suspected cultists were arrested in various parts of Edo State during a crackdown on criminal hideouts and house-to-house searches.
The suspects, who confessed to being members of various cult groups, including Maphites, Vikings, Black Axe, and Aye confraternities, will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
