Police arrest three suspected car thieves in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected car thieves and recovered two stolen vehicles following strong patrols across the state’s borders.
SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Kano State Police command’s spokesman, made this known in a statement on Thursday, emphasizing that the arrests were made by operatives of the Special Intervention Squad during a routine patrol along the Yankaba-Hadejia Road and the Kano-Ringim Expressway.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Sani Sirajo from Kaduna State, 35-year-old Rabiu Aliyu from Sharada Quarters, Kano, and 22-year-old Isah Yakubu from Katsina State, were arrested based on credible intelligence.
SP Haruna added that during the operation, the police recovered an ash-colored Honda Jazz with registration number SUL 173 and a white Pontiac Vibe with registration number SUL 516 SM.
“The operation demonstrates the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property in Kano State,” he said.
Further investigations revealed that the stolen vehicles were taken from Keffi in Nasarawa State, and the suspects have since confessed to the crime.
The command spokesperson assured all that the police were conducting further investigations, after which the vehicles would be returned to their rightful owners upon proof of ownership.
