Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Stabbing Co-Wife to Death in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old housewife in connection with the fatal stabbing of her co-wife following a domestic dispute.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Katsina State Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident occurred late Friday night behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura town, Daura Local Government Area.

The statement said the police received a report around 11 p.m. on May 24, 2025, from one Nasir Yusuf, the husband of both women.

He reported that upon returning home from the market, he found his first wife, 30-year-old Zainab Lawal, in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

Police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, rushed to the scene and transported the victim to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, where she was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Following an investigation, the second wife, identified as 23-year-old Rabi’a Labaran, was arrested at their shared residence.

She allegedly confessed to the crime, explaining that a misunderstanding between her and the deceased escalated into a physical altercation that ended in the stabbing.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has called on the public to avoid domestic violence and seek peaceful and lawful means to resolve conflicts.

He warned against taking the law into one’s own hands, emphasizing that such actions only lead to further harm and weaken the rule of law.
