Police Debunk Alleged Assassination Attempt on Naval Officer in Face-Off Linked to Wike
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulating online about an alleged assassination attempt on Lieutenant A.M. Yarima, who was reportedly trailed by unidentified individuals in two unmarked Hilux vans in Kubwa on Sunday evening.
The naval officer was said to have performed evasive manoeuvres after noticing the vehicles trailing him from the NIPCO Station off the Kubwa Motorway to Gado Nasco Road, according to military sources who confirmed that the incident is under investigation.
Reacting to the claims, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, described the reports as false and warned the public against spreading unverified information.
“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt Ahmed Yerima,” Adeh said.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.”
