Police Deny Gunmen Attack in Lagos, Say Incident Was Land Dispute
The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that unknown gunmen invaded the Ajebo Community near Agbowa in the Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA earlier this week.
Viral posts had alleged that armed men attacked the community from Monday, December 8, 2025, until police intervention on Tuesday.
However, in a statement released on Friday, the command described the reports as “mischievous, untrue, and misleading,” clarifying that the incident was a land dispute between two families.

According to the police, multiple units — including Tactical Squads, PMF Anti-Riot personnel, officers from Agbowa Division, Area N Command, and other special units — were immediately deployed to restore calm. Normal activities reportedly resumed shortly after.
The command added that no lives were lost, no injuries were recorded, and no firearms were discharged during the clash, contrary to viral claims.
They also emphasized that there was no invasion by any armed group.
