The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, has successfully secured the extradition of Abubakar Aboki Muhammed, a Nigerian fugitive, from the United Arab Emirates.
Muhammed, who was declared wanted over his involvement in a sophisticated fraud scheme involving forgery, money laundering, and obtaining money by false pretence, arrived in Nigeria on Friday, 23rd May 2025, after months of international collaboration and investigation.
Reports show that Muhammed posed as a shipping agent to an international businessman based in Abuja, fraudulently securing a contract to facilitate the freight of ten luxury vehicles valued at over $307,000 from the UAE to Nigeria. Investigations revealed he received the full payment via a third-party account domiciled in FCMB and later laundered the funds in Dubai.
FCNN gathered that the suspect reportedly issued forged shipping documents and subsequently cut off communication with the victim. His arrest in Dubai on April 15, 2025, and eventual extradition is seen as a critical win for law enforcement in the global crackdown on cross-border economic crimes.
