Police foil mob attack, rescue suspected vandal in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has rescued a suspected vandal, Umar Biliaminu, from a mob after he was allegedly caught stealing barbed wire in the Iju area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this in a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.

“At about 8:40 p.m. on August 21, 2025, Umar Biliaminu was caught while carting away barbed wire from a perimeter fence in the Iju area of Lagos State,” Hundeyin said.

According to him, Biliaminu attacked one of the people trying to apprehend him with a pair of scissors, which triggered mob action against him.

“Patrol officers from Iju Police Division raced to the scene and rescued him,” he added.
