Police Nab Seven Cultists with Human Skull in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cultists in connection with a series of cult-related attacks in Ikot Osura, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the suspects, believed to be members of the proscribed Ku Klux Klans confraternity, were found in possession of a human skull.
John explained that the arrests followed a report lodged by a student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osura, on August 25, 2025.
The student alleged he was ambushed and attacked with dangerous weapons by members of the group after renouncing his membership. He was left unconscious, while his Redmi 13C Android phone and ₦41,000 cash were stolen.
“On August 28, 2025, operatives of the command arrested seven suspects over cult-related assault, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm and human skull,” the statement read.
The arrested suspects were identified as Douglas Ambe Esikhene, Stephen Asukwo Effiong, Saviour Dany Akpan, Emmanuel Friday Umoh, Augustine Uduak Okon, Mary Ating Asukwo, and Itohowo Christopher Uko.
During a search of their hideout, police recovered one locally made short gun, seven live cartridges, a fresh human skull, a bottle of suspected black oil, and a bottle of Guyanese oil believed to be used for ritual purposes.

The police spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to track down other fleeing members of the gang and recover more exhibits.
