Police probe body found in car at National Assembly

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has opened an investigation following the discovery of a lifeless body inside a vehicle at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Reports suggest the deceased, identified as 55-year-old construction worker Gaddafi Iwar, had been missing for days before his body was found in a decomposed state.
The red Peugeot 406, in which the body was discovered, was said to have been parked at the same spot within the complex for some time.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said officers from the National Assembly Division responded to a distress call around 9 a.m. on Sunday.
The body was evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where doctors confirmed it was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ajao Adewale, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and directed that efforts be intensified to establish the identity of the deceased,” Adeh said.
