The FCT Police Command has reported the successful rescue of a newborn baby, just one day old, who was abandoned along a bush path near Crush Rock, behind an uncompleted Red Bricks Market in Mpape, Abuja. In a statement, SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that officers from the Mpape Division’s Juvenile and Women Care Section (JWC) acted on a distress call and discovered the infant, wrapped in a cloth, on January 3, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM.
“The baby was quickly taken to Mpape Primary Health Care Center, where a medical evaluation confirmed the infant’s stable condition.
“Following a tip-off from the community, the baby’s mother, Khadija Ali, was apprehended.
