Basketmouth Warns Couples Against Taking Marital Issues Online

Comedian and actor Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has cautioned couples—especially those going through marital crises—to resist the urge to drag their private issues into the public space. He warned that exposing family conflicts online could have long-term emotional consequences for their children.

In a video posted on his Instagram page on Monday, Basketmouth, who previously confirmed the end of his own marriage, noted that while disagreements are normal in relationships, taking them to social media only worsens the situation.

“Families have had problems since the beginning of time,” he said. “I also had issues in my marriage, but I never brought them online to share details.”

He criticised the increasing trend of couples divulging sensitive personal information online, describing it as reckless and potentially harmful. According to him, such information can easily become “weapons” used against their children in the future.

“They forget that their children will grow up and see these things online. Their children’s friends might use these details against them and damage their emotional well-being,” he said.

Basketmouth also referenced the ongoing public dispute involving actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko. He urged the senator to take responsibility and handle the matter privately.

“Senator, you are an elder. If nobody will tell you, I will. Every day this matter gets worse. Handle it with the maturity expected of your office,” he said.

His remarks have since attracted reactions online, with many social media users agreeing that marital conflicts should be resolved privately rather than turned into public spectacle.
